If you're looking for a memorable time in Scotland, then one of the best places to visit is Glasgow, a truly rich and diverse city. It is the friendliest city any tourist could wish for. But when it comes to shopping - there's no place like it.

Glasgow is officially recognized as the second largest retail center in the UK. Big brands and major retailers can be found in most of the 1,500 plus shops in this small but exciting city. But even within the UK, it's something of a secret that Glasgow is the top location for shopping.

Lots of visitors come from all over the world to enjoy the delights of Scotland, but while they're enjoying the highlights of Glasgow - they can also catch up on some brilliant shopping. Tourists from Spain, India, Russia, America, and Canada have all commented on how surprising it is to find some fantastic shopping opportunities within such a city of culture.

1. Glasgow’s Style Mile

In the heart of Glasgow is the Style Mile and houses a number of amazing shops and outlets. From boutiques to malls, to designer stores, the Style Mile has your shopping needs covered. Even better - the shops are often open until seven pm or eight pm. This gives you ample time to shop after enjoying some of Glasgow's cultural heights.

The number of designer shops is eye-opening - the shops offer a great range of designer picks for both men and women. Some of the brands include GANT, Hugo Boss, Fat Buddha, Thomas Pink, TM Lewin and MacGregor and MacDuff for men; Lush, L’Occitane, Molton Brown, Coast and Hobbs for women. In addition to fashion and beauty, one can also shop for art, electronics and fabrics.

2. The Golden Z

The Golden Z runs unevenly in the form of the letter 'Z’ for approximately two and a half miles, thus the name. It is famous for tremendous shopping and dining experiences and is rapidly growing and catching the eye of the passing tourists. The Golden Z begins at one end of Sauchiehall Street, then down from the top of Buchanan Street (see the photo), to the bottom at the St Enoch Centre and then across Argyle St, forming a giant Z.

3. Italian Centre

The Italian Centre is home to the one and only Versace store in all of the UK. But in this area, there are also chic bars and sophisticated restaurants for a good and fun time. The area is generally surrounded by a good atmosphere and Italian theme. This is where you come for an intense designer shopping experience, perhaps followed up by a fresh Italian meal or drink.

4. Silverburn

This is more of an 'out of town’ type of shopping experience. But the opportunity to 'shop 'til you drop' is unrivalled here. There are over a hundred shops, dining placed and even a cinema in Silverburn.

Everything at Silverburn is under one roof so there is no need to be worried about the unpredictable Glasgow weather. This provides shade on extremely sunny days and shelter on rainy days- you do not have to interrupt your shopping or meal time. If you are looking to shop, dine and catch a movie - this is the perfect 'one stop shop'.

Glasgow is very prosperous tourism destination with more than two million tourists annually. Visit the city to have a feel of the 'Gateway to Scotland’ and use the opportunity to grab some shopping bargains at the same time!
